Aural Health Bridging Program



Target group: Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Audiometrists, General Practitioners, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Allied Health Care Workers may be eligible on application. Potential students must have attended the Otitis Media and Aural Health Care Program one-day workshop prior to attending the Aural (Ear) Health Bridging Program. Other specific entry requirements may apply to all potential students.

Course summary: The Course in Aural (Ear) Health Bridging Program is designed to provide an opportunity for students that have attended the Otitis Media and Aural Health Care Program to upgrade to the full course.

The Bridging Program delivers a single unit of competency, Perform Wax Removal (Competency Code AEHPWR003A) and requires students to complete an online learning module as well as a 4-hour classroom based practical skills session.

This unit covers the following areas:

On successful completion of the Course in Aural (Ear) Health Bridging Program, successful students will have the skills and knowledge to competently and safely assess the need for and perform wax removal procedures in a variety of settings as well as educating and assisting in the management of clients with aural health needs.
